Looking to take your merchandising to the next level of visual appeal but your afraid where to start and how to go about it? Well that’s why we are here and that’s why we get paid the big bucks – to take your product to that next level.

Creating a controlled lighting environment for photographing the hat inside our studio.

If there is one thing that we love to do its to take a product be in a shirt, hat, food, perfume bottles or even skin cream and create a world for it to be photographed in through lighting environments, canvas backgrounds, textured tables or backdrops or using elements that make it up the product in some way shape or form to visually complement it.  Some times you can throw all of this at the product and most of the time going minimal always wins. Its always great to come up with grandiose ideas and complicated lighting setups but you have to remember – the product is the main attraction, the star of the photo everything else is secondary.

One way to make the product stand out is by featuring 2 key things

  1. Identifying the product.
  2. Highlighting its craftsmanship.

There are people out there that want quality and they are willing to pay for it and running a business in Pattaya – REPUTATION is paramount. Our job as photographers is to make whatever it is your selling – look enticing to the eye because everyone knows what kind of reputation Pattaya has when it comes to quality. There is no middle ground. What you get is either gonna be good or its gonna be shit.

Proof is in the pudding. Sure you can photograph whatever it is your selling with your mobile phone and throw it up online but its still gonna look cheap and simply well… cheap. If you want your product to stand out you step aside and hire professionals that know what they are doing to create your vision.

By using our 100ml Canon L series lens we are able to capture amazing detail in the threading.

When we first worked with Wicked Soi 6 the previous owner or bar manager had a absolutely no idea what do to when it came to marketing. He was lost and told us to “run with it, I trust you guy’s.”.  We pressed him for some details of what he would like to see or even to give some ideas he really didn’t have any. We were given a blank slate to work with.

There are lot of photographer’s out there that are more than happy to take your product and shoot it for a quick buck – and why not – you might even get a deal from them if you pay for their Visa Run to the border or clear their check-bin for the night. You might not want anything special; a few photos to throw up on facebook is good enough.

It’s great that you think your business is special – but there’s a contradiction there by hiring someone who really doesn’t care and the fact that you told him nothing special. That person you hired will undoubtedly make sure the quality of the photograph reflects your business and brand as (you said) nothing special.

IT'S NOT JUST A HAT

Our job isn’t to show that its a hat… our job as photographers is to find what makes this hat special and show this in greater detail by highlighting the craftsmanship of the hat. Before even taking a single photo of the hat or setting up the lights we wanted to get a feel for the hat in our hands… looking very closely at the hat with our own eyes where we can process a feel for it.

Running our fingers across the tightly knit threading, bending the brim slightly seeing how much it can take, wearing the hat frontwards and backward experiencing how it looks on one of us. We also went to the wardrobe by matching a couple shirts and shoes with it. Its all about getting familiar with it because with this we can get a better understanding of what highlights of the hat to feature an focus on – finding the selling points of the hat.

BEING THE FIRST & BEING ORIGINAL

When you look around at the local landscape of small businesses producing merchandising photos in Pattaya, there wasn’t anyone creating such high-quality photos with a fashionably stylistic approach as we did. If there was anyone doing it before us; please, point them out in the comments below because we would love to checkout other people’s work.

When we stated above “creating such high-quality photos with a fashionably stylistic approach”, we mean that in we conveyed it with the photos in a cool but modern way with a sense of maturity in respect that complemented the brand and business behind the product.

It was a pleasure working with Wicked Soi 6 on this shoot because it was a chance to take a huge opportunity that has never been approached before and delivered like we did… and we are extremely happy to be the first to do it.

In the video above we were there for Wicked Bars 2nd years anniversary.
